pot. Make sure that the water is not too hot or too cold; water at room temperature is best.
4.Do not fertilize when plant is blooming for it will cause the buds to drop off.
5.Once the flowers have wilted, trim the “spike” (stem) so that one third of the spike is left. Allow for two months for the stem to grow. If no growth is visible, then cut the stem off at the base. This will allow the plant to resume leaf and root growth. Water the plant with mild solution of special orchid fertilizer twice a month. During growth of the plant, warm daytime temperatures are required, but temperature should be lowered to at least 5 to 10 degree Celsius at night.
6.There is no need to repot every year. Repotting is required only if the pot is entirely filled with roots or if the potting compost has decayed completely. At times, aerial roots may grow outside the pot. This is normal – do not put them back into the pot for it may cause damage to the plant’s health. |
